Sustainable Futures returns to the Monteverde Institute for their 13th year in 2008. This unique, 10 week, 13 credit hour "service-learning" studio experience is open to undergraduate and graduate level students in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Community Planning. Sponsored by a collaboration between SUNY Buffalo, SUNY-ESF, the University of Maryland, and the University of Illinois, students participating in Sustainable Futures will learn about sustainable design within the cloud forest ecosystem, and incorporating sustainable approaches and technologies in a variety of projects based in the Monteverde community. Past projects include scenario planning for the Municipality of Monteverde, as well as a variety of architecture and site planning projects for schools, community groups, and local NGO's. Keep and eye here for news about this year's projects! Contact Prof. Scott Shannon (sshannon@mvinstitute.org) for additional information on this year's course, including program fees and registration. A detailed couse syllabus is available here. |
