IWRP Community Dialogue Series
Currently, the Community Dialogue series encompasses the participation of various businesses and community organizations (governmental and non-governmental) in the national Ecological Blue Flag Program (Programa Bandera Azul Ecológica; PBAE).  The program has as its general objective the following:

“To create an incentive to promote the organization of local committees in the coastal areas, communities, education centers, protected areas, watersheds and other niches of touristic and environmental interest with the purpose of searching for their conservation and development in accordance with the protection of natural resources, the search for the highest sanitary conditions and the advancement of Costa Rican public health in general.”

Utilizing PBAE’s established framework for organization and auto-evaluation, the local PBAE committee hopes to identify, document and disseminate the major existing challenges to public and environmental health in Monteverde.  It is hoped that with this quantified information, specialized committees and/or other qualified entities will be better able to address specific issues.
